It’s not all fun and games. (But it’s some fun and games!)

If you are a member of the SocializeLA community you’ve probably heard the term, “WorkPLAYce.” Maybe you’ve seen our photos on the #WorkPLAYce hashtag or experienced the concept firsthand at one of our hosted events. As a virtual company, the WorkPLAYce is central to our culture.

For those unfamiliar, a WorkPLAYce is somewhere fun that you work. It’s not your everyday work space. It’s an environment that inspires you to think differently, in a way that makes you happy. 😊

Getting creative with your workspace can enhance productivity and creativity. But it’s not all fun and games. We’ve found (through years of trial and error) that there are some best practices to make the most of your WorkPLAYce experience.

Fundamentals to make the WorkPLAYce work for YOU:

• Find an environment that speaks to you. Experiment with different types of places: quiet, lively, inside, outside, public, private or members-only. It’s all fair game as long as you…
• Define a goal for the day. And make a to-do list before you go. (No breaks until you start checking items off the list!)
• Pack thoughtfully. Think through all of the supplies you’ll need for the day, so you don’t have to pack up to get something once you’re in the zone. (Headphones, chargers, water, snacks, planner, pens, post-it notes, etc.)
• Time block. Set up a schedule for work, breaks, and play time. Reward yourself for checking items off your list, and remember to just “be” in the space and let your mind wander!

Getting out in the world sparks creativity. 💫

This applies whether your WorkPLAYce is in another country or your local coffee shop. It’s all about mixing things up and shifting your perspective.
